About my methods

What to expect

The terms counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably.Counselling typically involves shorter term issues whereas psychotherapy often refers to more deep-rooted issues that may require longer term support. Both involve talking with a trained professional about your problems. This process relies on evidence-based models and theories that help you to understand the nature of your problems and enable you to make positive changes.

What can I expect from counselling and psychotherapy sessions?

Sessions can involve general discussions about how you are feeling, practical exercises to help you find solutions to your problems and learning skills and techniques to apply to your everyday life. This may include homework if this would be helpful. As an integrative therapist I am able to tailor therapy to your individual needs so there is no set session type.

How many sessions will I have/need and how often?

Following on from the 15 minute free initial consultation, therapy sessions will commence on a weekly or fortnightly basis dependant on your needs. There are no limits on the number of sessions you can have and I will periodically check in with you to make sure you're happy with continuing or would like to work towards an ending. You will normally know yourself when this will be.

Where will I have my counselling/psychotherapy sessions?

I can provide in person, online ( Zoom), or telephone sessions.
